When Cooper Union, a private college of art, architecture, and engineering, raised $2.7 million for a new academic building, they wanted a way to show their gratitude towards those who contributed. Enter the Alumni Roof Terrace located on the eighth floor of the new 41 Cooper Square building. The roof terrace creatively displays the names of significant contributors on the black granite pavers which form the floor of the rooftop terrace. With expansive views of the New York City skyline, the terrace has become a popular gathering space for students and alumni alike.
Creating a roof system that would not damage the underlying roof structure of the new facility was of equal importance as creating an attractive and modern outdoor space. The industrial-grade Bison Versadjust Pedestal System is durable and functional and ensured that the custom pavers and rooftop environment would stand the test of time and honor those who contributed to Cooper Union’s legacy.
